For children and youth who are visually impaired, it's not always easy to confidently engage in the world beyond home or school. Lighthouse's Youth services helps young people, age 6-21, develop the self-assurance and skills needed to become independent adults.
Provides social/recreational services to legally blind children ages 6 through 13 through a variety of group activities including: creative arts, drama, table games, adaptive physical education, and field trips.
Lighthouse Career Services staff work closely with students, after school during the school year as well as through the summer months, to help them secure paying jobs in the community.
Consists of a cluster of rehabilitation, pre-vocational and recreational services which are age appropriate and consistent with the individual’s level of skill.
This program provides college orientation to up to 20 legally blind teens each summer.
Provides transition training for teens ages 14-21 in preparation for their entrance into the work-force.
