Lighthouse International raised over $340K for the second annual Double Up 4 Vision 5K Tandem Bike Ride and Walk.
On October 22, 2011, over 700 people came out to support Double Up 4 Vision, Lighthouse International’s second annual 5K Tandem Bike Ride and Walk.
The event took place in New York City and paired people with and without sight on tandem bikes or as walking partners. Family, friends and supporters of the Lighthouse walked from Riverside Park in Harlem to Pier i in Manhattan in order to raise awareness of vision loss.
Double Up 4 Vision 2011 kicked off on October 21 with a 24-Hour, 5 Borough Tandem Bike Relay. Six cycling teams, each with a rider who is visually impaired, rode for approximately 3-4 hours on a course that crisscrossed through all five boroughs of New York City.
Double Up 4 Vision was a huge success, raising over $340,000, more than double last year’s total.
We still need your help! It's not too late to donate.
Thank you to everyone who joined Lighthouse International in the fight against vision loss for 61 million Americans at high risk. Whether you rode or walked for yourself or for someone you love, your voice was heard!
