Meet Our Principal
Gregory H. Santamoor, M.S., T.V.I., S.A.S.
Gregory Santamoor began as Principal of Lighthouse International's Child Development Center in July 2006. He oversees the Early Intervention, Preschool, Universal Pre-K programs and Parent Center.
Mr. Santamoor spearheaded the opening of the new Lighthouse Parent Center in January 2007, which offers workshops and classes for parents of students with and without visual impairments.
Mr. Santamoor was Principal at Helen Keller Services for the Blind's Children's Learning Center (CLC) from 2001-2006. In this role, he utilized his 14 years of special education experience to oversee the Early Intervention Program, for children from birth to 3 years; the Preschool, for children ages 3-5 years; and the Parent & Early Education Resource Center, which he opened in 2004.
He spent over four years in the US Air Force in Telecommunications and was honorably discharged in 1988 in the rank of a Sergeant.
Santamoor has a Master of Science in Severe and Multiple Disabilities including Deaf-Blindness from Hunter College, where he also earned his certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. He received his School Administration and Supervision certificate from Baruch College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Secondary Education from Potsdam College of The State University of New York.
Santamoor has spoken often at vision workshops and special education conferences throughout the New York metropolitan area. Santamoor has interviewed and has been featured on PAX TV, NBC Channel 4, CD 101.9 KISS FM and WBAI all concerning visual impairments and blindness. He is fluent in Spanish, is proficient in French and American Sign Language and knows Grade II Braille.
