June 13, 2009: National Dance Institute Show: Theme -- John Lennon's Music

June 3, 2009 & April 27, 2009: For the seventh consecutive year, the Music School has been involved in a collaborative project with PS 79 in Whitestone, NY. Read more about the collaboration here!

May 26, 2009: "Jammin' 59": a concert of contemporary folk/rock music

May 9, 2009: Comprehensive Music Program for Young People presented Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with a multi-cultural twist!

April 30, 2009: Jazz hour, a casual concert with our Jazz Ensemble. Audience members were invited to bring their lunches. This concert was done in conjunction with Lighthouse International's Diabetes Center, and special guest speaker, Ben Vereen.

April 17, 2009: "At Home in America": 13th Annual Lighthouse at the Met Concert. Celebrating the opening of the museum's New American Period rooms.

April 1, 2009: Choral Master Class with Joseph Miller, Westminster Choir College, Professor of Choral Studies. Featuring the Lighthouse Choral Ensemble.

2008:

December 11, 2008: A-Caroling We Go ... Again and Again! The Lighthouse Vocal Ensemble brought holiday musical cheer to our neighborhood and beyond.

December 6, 2008: Second Annual All-School Performathon, featuring students from every musical level, style and age.

December 4, 2008: The Lighthouse Vocal Ensemble gave a joint concert of Holiday Music, as well as a tribute to George Gershwin, with The Downtown Glee Club of New York City, conducted by Gladstone Trott.

November 7, 2008: Choral Music Showcase The Lighthouse Vocal Ensemble was joined by the high school choir of The Harvey School located in Katonah, NY in our third interactive showcase. Audience members learned about choral singing, conducting and working with visually integrated and intergenerational choirs. The showcase also featured the New York premiere of Lines from "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry" by Elam Sprenkle of The Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University.

May 31, 2008: On Saturday, May 31, 2008 students from the Comprehensive Music Program for Young People (CMPYP) presented performances featuring:

* Percussion Ensemble
* Recorder Class
* Children's Chorus
* "Carnival of Animals" -- featured songs and movement complete with costumes and sets created by the students.

May 20, 2008: Tuesday, May 20th our newest performance ensemble -- One 11 East, an eclectic group performing folk, rock and popular styles, performed an hour of oldies and goodies at Lighthouse International. Best wishes to Phil Bowditch who will be retiring from the Music School after 25 years as our guitar teacher. Good luck to you on your new journey. We'll miss you.

May 10, 2008: Student Recital: Individual Instrumental Performances: On Saturday, May 10th, students from the Comprehensive Music Program for Young People (CMPYP) presented individual performance pieces.

April 25, 2008: Jazz with a Side Order of Lunch: On Friday, April 25th the Lighthouse Jazz Ensemble performed for a lunchtime crowd in BV Hall.

April 4, 2008: Students from the Lighthouse Music School performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a concert entitled "The Artistic Spirit" at the Temple of Dendur in the Sackler Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday, April 4th.
