Providing Funds for Those in Need
The epidemic rise of vision loss is making the need for services that restore functioning and independence for those affected more pressing than ever before. Unfortunately, not everyone is insured or can afford services - and some services are not covered by insurance. That's why Lighthouse International has taken steps to ensure that patients with limited means can receive the vital care they need by establishing two special funds to help cover the costs.

One fund was launched with the help of Lighthouse Board member and prominent ophthalmologist, Dr. Lawrence Yannuzzi, who provided a lead grant from The Macula Foundation, which he founded, to create the Vision Aide Fund. This fund helps cover the costs of services and transportation for patients who otherwise could not afford them.
Complementing this invaluable support, we recently created the Low Vision Device Fund for those who cannot afford to purchase prescription low vision devices that maximize remaining vision. We were able to launch this effort with a lead grant from the FJC, a community foundation of philanthropic funds.
Thanks to the generosity of these foundations and other donors, all of our patients receive the services, tools and training they need to lead safe and independent lives.
