Philanthropy has always been "in fashion" at Lighthouse International. With a borrowed $400 and only their dress allowances, Winifred and Edith Holt lit the Lighthouse lamp in 1905. The visionary sisters opened up a world of opportunity to help people without sight help themselves.
Fashionable names like Bloomingdale, Gimbel and Tiffany were the first to join in building Lighthouse International -- today's leading non-profit organization that empowers people with vision loss to enjoy independent and productive lives.
The Lighthouse legacy of fashionable philanthropy continues through POSH. For more than 35 years, POSH Fashion - "The Hottest Sale in Town" - has been one of the premier fashion fundraisers in New York, and it doesn't stop there. POSH has expanded to include an interiors sale, a White Plains store, and a Palm Beach version of the original Fashion sale.
All proceeds raised by POSH go to support the programs and services of Lighthouse International.
